
Geoff WhiteheadPrincipal
Geoff focuses on healthcare investing as well as company creation within Flagship's VentureLabsTM unit. He is currently a Board Observer to portfolio companies AeroDesigns, Tangent Medical and Selventa. He has previously supported Flagship's investments in BG Medicine (NASDAQ: BGMD), BIND Biosciences and Helicos (NASDAQ: HLCS) as well as assisting in the creation of several new companies. Geoff played a leadership position in launching the VentureLabsTM Entrepreneurial Fellows program in 2010 and continues to participate in its management. Prior to joining Flagship in 2008, Geoff was a management consultant in PRTM’s Life Sciences group, being rapidly promoted to Manager. At PRTM, Geoff managed multiple strategic and operational engagements with leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostics companies and created PRTM’s molecular diagnostics practice. Earlier at Myriad Genetics, Geoff identified drug targets and performed human molecular genetics analysis for obesity and diabetes. Additionally, Geoff designed and engineered medical devices at Utah Medical Products. Geoff holds a PhD in Genetics from the Biological & Biomedical Sciences program at Harvard Medical School and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Utah. His doctoral research was done with Professor Mark Keating in the fields of regenerative medicine, genetics and developmental biology, and was ultimately published in the leading journal Science. |
