Cambridge, Mass. – November 29, 2010 – Joule Unlimited, Inc., pioneer of Liquid Fuel from the Sun™, today announced the expansion of its senior management team to support the company's rapid progress towards high-volume commercial production of renewable diesel fuel. Eric d'Esparbes has joined as Chief Financial Officer, and Kevin Madden has joined as Vice President of Biology Operations.

"Joule has made tremendous strides in the advancement of our Helioculture™ technology and system, and at the same time we've built a world-class leadership team to bring our ambitious goals to fruition," said Bill Sims, president and CEO, Joule. "With the addition of Eric, we'll benefit from significant deal-making and corporate structuring experience across large, international energy companies. With Kevin, we'll gain another technology expert who also has the operational expertise necessary to ensure rapid progress. It is a testament to our compelling story that we've been able to attract such talent to join Joule in our industry-changing mission."

Mr. d'Esparbes is an accomplished executive with more than 20 years of finance management experience in the energy sector. He most recently served as Vice President of Finance for AEI Services, LLC, which owns and operates more than 50 energy infrastructure companies in 20 countries. He was responsible for optimizing the capital structure of AEI's global portfolio, and also helped to launch and grow the company's Asia division while serving as its CFO. Prior to AEI, Mr. d'Esparbes held senior finance positions for Meiya Power Company, an Asia-based power company with 18 investment companies; and Hydro-Québec International, the international unit of one of the world's largest hydro power companies. He holds a BBA in International Finance from the Université de Montréal.

Dr. Madden is a 13-year veteran of the biotechnology industry, with expertise in the production of renewable fuels and pharmaceutical products. He was previously Chief Scientific Officer at Microbia, Inc. (now a subsidiary of Royal DSM), where he led the company’s innovation from the R&D stages through the commercialization of numerous products. He also developed and managed 14 partnerships across multiple markets, and was instrumental in building and managing the company's intellectual property portfolio. Prior to Microbia, Dr. Madden was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Millennium Pharmaceuticals. He holds a BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and PhD in Biology from Yale University.

"Having worked in the energy field for many years, I recognize the unique opportunity that Joule has to deliver renewable fuels with the scale and economics that have eluded biofuels, while also pursuing the markets for petroleum-derived chemicals. This multi-product strategy, coupled with a transformational technology and highly-experienced team, make Joule a very exciting place to be as we look to finally overcome fossil fuel dependence," said Mr. d'Esparbes.

"In just several years Joule has achieved a platform unlike any other, with equal emphasis on the biology and the system to ensure highly-efficient industrial production," said Dr. Madden. "I'm very pleased to join an innovation leader like Joule and further strengthen the parallels between R&D and commercial delivery of renewable diesel and other valuable products."
