Harry Wilcox Joins Flagship Ventures as CFO and Partner

October 23, 2006

Harry Wilcox has joined Flagship Ventures as CFO and Partner. Harry will take over from Cheryl Goyette who will be leaving us during November to join a newly formed venture firm as their CFO. We are thankful for the many contributions made by Cheryl in managing our partnership finance activities over the last 8 years and look forward to continuing to excel in this area under the able leadership of Harry.

Harry brings to Flagship Ventures a rich set of experiences and expertise in financial management, operations, fund management and strategy. His career spans 28 years and has involved many different roles and functions including Controller, CFO, Sr. VP BD, and CEO. He has also served on several Boards of Directors. In addition to his corporate experience, Harry was previously CFO of two venture capital firms, Highland Capital Partners where he was the founding CFO and General Partner, and prior to that, Charles River Ventures.

We have had the opportunity to interact frequently with Harry during the past two years while he has served as CFO and then Sr. VP Corporate Development for Exact Sciences, one of our portfolio companies, and also through his service on the Board of another portfolio company, Epitome Biosystems. In addition to Exact Sciences, during the last three years Harry has led an active consulting practice which included roles as interim CEO of two biotech companies: Thrasos Therapeutics and Biostratum. Prior to this, Harry was Executive Vice President, Chief of Finance and Corporate Development of Pyrosequencing, a publicly-held Biotech company. Earlier, he had been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge NeuroScience, Inc. until its sale to CeNeS Pharmaceuticals, and before that Sr. VP Business Development and CFO of Cellcor.

As CFO and Partner at Flagship Ventures, Harry will manage all financial operations, communications/events, and LP relations/fundraising, while working closely with us on portfolio management and firm strategy issues. He is also expected to play a role as board member or advisor to select portfolio companies.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Harry to the Flagship family and also in thanking Cheryl and wishing her continued success.
